Job Title: Engineering Technician/Analyst
Location: Houston, Texas or Midland/Odessa



The Engineering Tech/Analyst provides moderately complex technical, analytical and financial support to the Engineering staff and serves as an integral technical support member.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties

  • Provide support for the technical evaluation of exploration projects
  • May support various budget, reserves, and/or long-range planning initiatives and sensitivities
  • Provide supporting data via research from public sources such as IHS and regulatory agencies.
  • Generate monthly reports based on standard procedures to provide project performance tracking and ensure accuracy of data.
  • Assist engineers in the preparation of technical reports, analyses, evaluations and presentations as needed
  • Involvement in data room evaluations and data room preparations
  • Perform advanced calculations and analyses of data in support of engineering studies
  • Advanced knowledge of Wellview database updates and management
  • Ability to manage big data sets and an understanding of relational databases
  • Ability to utilize GIS to assist team with mapping needs a plus
  • Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with Blackbuck facilities
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Access are required) applications to manipulate and interpret data and reports
  • Experience on a Data Science / Analytics focused team a plus
  • Ability to thrive in both an independent and collaborative work environment and have exceptional skills in managing multiple demands, including prioritizing deadlines
  • Strong analytical, numeric and problem-solving skills
  • Effective team player who takes an active role in team responsibilities
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Excellent written / verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with industry/company software including: Wellview, IHS
  • Driven, organized and detail oriented
  • Strong data management skills with demonstrated ability to build, maintain and extract information from databases
  • Ability to identify process improvements and utilize skills to enhance functionality


  • College Degree: S. required in GIS, Computer Science, Finance, Math, Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, or other technically related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience with preference to prior industry
